SAONA ISLAND (off LA ROMANA), DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The bus picked us up from the resort next door
Tour price for the day, per adult = $90, $45 each for Adam & Kendra.
This included bus ride, entrance to stadium tour, entrance to La Romana preserved beach, speedboat ride to Saona Island, all the rum we could drink, great buffet lunch, relaxing & entertaining catamaran ride back (one could sleep, or dance, depending on their energy level), stop at a local shopping area, and bus ride back to the resort.

The tour was a bit different this time than in 2004 when we last went. Rather than go early and snorkel with fish & corals, the tour took us to an outdoor stadium where there were live performers in colourful costumes, several cafes to get some breakfast and coffee, as well as movie sites to view. On the other side of this wall is a very deep valley with large river and flat lands.....apparently Rambo, Jurassic Park, and several other box office movies had scenes filmed here.

This was the speedboat pick-up spot after our 1.5 hour bus ride from Punta Cana to La Romana. What a gorgeous day!

This is us - in the middle of the caribbean - a warm "natural pool" many miles from shore!

Adam scaled up a palm tree...well actually, this is about as far as he could get. :)
